TBN Loses Lawsuit Over Sexual Assault Cover-Up
Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 12:57PM A California jury agreed with Carra Crouch’s claim her grandmother, Jan Crouch of TBN fame, acted egregiously by not reporting her sexual assault to police in order to avoid a public scandal. Carra was awarded $2 million in damages.
That is the same thing C.J. Mahaney and staff did at Covenant Life Church and in Sovereign Grace Ministries in multiple instances over 20 plus years. Regrettably, the lawsuit brought against Mahaney, CLC, and SGM by 11 plaintiffs was dismissed because of legal technicalities (e.g. the statute of limitations ran out in Maryland).
As a result, the merits of the lawsuit were never heard in a civil court. If they had, I have no doubt a jury would have found the eight individual and three institutional defendants guilty of a conspiracy to cover up the sexual abuse of children and punitive damages would have been awarded to the victims.
